Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Authors should prepare and upload two versions of their manuscript.

    One should be a complete text, while in the second, all information identifying the author should be removed from files to allow them to be sent anonymously to reviewers.

    When uploading files, authors will then be able to define:
    - The complete version as “Article Text (Original – Not For Review)” and
    - The non-anonymous version as "Article Text (Without Name - For Review)".

Author Guidelines

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

1) The authors are invited to submit their manuscripts using the journal online manuscript submission system.

2) Only unpublished papers will be accepted and authors should not submit the same manuscript, in the same or different languages, simultaneously to more than one journal.

3) All articles must be in English, Arabic or Malay. Emphasis is placed on direct and clearly understood communication, originality and scholarly merit.

MANUSCRIPTS PUBLISHED

The journal publishes the following types of manuscripts:

1) Research Articles 

Research articles present important new research results, including the entire contents of a research project. Research articles generally consist of an abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and references. These articles should be between 3000-8000 words in length.

2) Case Studies

A case study is a report of a single case (generally deemed interesting or unusual). These studies usually are generated by the author’s actual experience or objective observations. The case should feature a new program approach, best practice, or organizational structure.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

These instructions are written in a form that satisfies all the formatting requirements for the author's manuscript. Please use them as a guide in preparing your manuscript:

  •  Manuscript shall be formatted for an A4 size page.
  • The top, bottom, left and right margins shall be 1”.
  • The text shall have both the left and right margins justified.

1) Title

  • The title should be appropriate, reflects the content and within the scope of the journal.
  • The title should be centered across the top of the first page and should have a distinctive font of 14-point, Garamond. It should be in a bold font and in capital letters.
  • Author(s) and corresponding author information. Authors are required to include a cover page indicating the details for all authors (name(s), institutions and corresponding author's name, institutions and full address, telephone number and mobile phone number and e-mail address) for editorial correspondence

2) Abstract

  • An abstract should contain Introduction (which includes the importance, significance and motivation of the work), Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions.
  • The abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, briefly present the topic, state the scope of the experiments, indicate significant data, and point out major findings and conclusion.
  • The abstract should be in about 150 to 200 words. Standard nomenclature should be used and abbreviations should be avoided.
  • Author should not include references, citation or displayed equations on abstract (12 point, Garamond).
  • Extended version of abstract and title in ENGLISH is required if the article submitted in Malay or Arabic language. The format of abstract should provide the purpose, design/methodology/approach, findings, originality/value, a maximum of six (6) keywords that will assist in indexing the paper and paper type.

3) Keywords

The keywords are carefully selected important words and reflect the content of the manuscript. Words already in the title are preferably not included as the keywords. This is a list important terms relevant to the content of paper. Up to 3-6 keywords should be listed at the bottom of abstract to be used as index terms (12 point, Garamond).

4) Introduction

The Introduction should contain background and literature review, the motivation of the work and logic leading to current work. The Introduction should also include hypothesis and objectives of the research.

5) Methodology

The method section should be concise but has sufficient information for other researchers to repeat the work.

6) Results

This is one of the most important sections. Editors should make sure that the results are clearly stated, the illustrations are clear, appropriate and useful for the discussion.

7) Conclusion

The impact of the study on the field should be clearly stated in the conclusion. If appropriate impact of the study on policy should also be mentioned. This section can also contain specific suggestions for the future works.

8) Acknowledgements

The names of people who have helped in the work can be included in this section. The source of funding and the codes of the research grants should also be given in this section.

9) References

  • The references should be appropriate and properly cited according to the journal’s format. Al-Azkiyaa follows the APA (American Psychological Association) style for all in-text citation.
  • List of References should be in alphabetical order for every work cited in the text.
  • References should be carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency (spelling, date and title). All endnotes should appear before references and it should be kept to minimum.

10) Presentation

In general, the editor should also decide whether the manuscript in concise and easy to read.

11) Figures and Tables

Tables

  • Number tables in the order they are cited in the text
  • Include a title – a single sentence at the head of the table that includes the name of the organism studied
  • Use footnotes to provide any additional explanatory material, cross-referenced to the column entries
  • Give a short heading for each column

Figures

  • Figures should be self-explanatory and contain a short but adequately detailed caption.
  • Figures should be provided in one of the following formats: PNG, EPS, TIFF, JPEG, BMP.
  • The figure(s) should have a resolution of 600 dpi for grayscale and 300 dpi for colour.
  • All figures must be numbered sequentially in the text in the same order in which they appear (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2). The figure(s) caption should be written in sentence cases and placed underneath the image, centre aligned, with no period at the end of the caption.
