stylistic selection, long open syllable, Surah Al-Najmالملخص
Surah Al-Najm is known as one of the Qur’anic surahs which verses end with a single musical melody, which in ancient Arabic rhetoric is called saj’. It is one of the beautiful aspects that represents verbal enhancements that has no effect on meaning. However, the Qur’anic text does not only discuss the verbal aspect, but rather goes beyond it to the semantic aspect. Therefore, the research attempts to examine this phenomenon in this Surah from the perspective of the stylistic approaches, which is the stylistic of choice, aiming to reveal the semantic effect of words ending with the long, open syllable in the breaks of the verses of the Surah an-Najm, by relying on the descriptive and analytical approach to reach that goal. One of the most important findings of the research is that 56 verses in Surat An-Najm end with a word in the long, open syllable. Perhaps the reason for choosing these words with this type of syllable is no longer limited to phonetic improvements, but rather to its main themes in the Surah, which are centered around the fundamentals of faith, divine capability, and the reality of resurrection and the Day of Judgment.
